How to Remove Oxidation From a Boat Hull | Pro Guide

Pull a neglected boat out of the sun and run your hand down the hull. If it comes back with a chalky white film and the gelcoat looks flat, faded, and dead, that's oxidation — and no amount of soap and water is bringing the shine back. Under constant UV, the resin at the surface breaks down. The gloss goes first, then it hazes, then it turns to that powdery chalk you can wipe onto a rag.
